The village of Phillipston is located in Brady Township in the Southwest corner of the county on the Allegheny River.

The names presented here consist of the Phillipston School records held by the compiler, for the years 1907, 1908, 1909, 1914, 1915, 1917, 1919, 1921-22.  There are a number of years which were not combined into this grouping, which Mrs. Taylor would be happy to share if you write her.

Ms. Taylor, a WPGS member, comments, “From 1900 until about 1950, Phillipston was a busy little village, the Pennsylvania Railroad ran several passenger trains in and out of our station going to Pittsburgh, Oil City and East Brady.  In 1930, the fare to East Brady was 10c one way, and in the summer we children would ride there, go to the movie and walk home.  The railroad yard was usually full of cars, and the siding to East Brady most always had a train stored there overnight.  I spent my summers in Phillipston with my grandparents, Calvin and Arvilla (Phillips) Mock.  My great-grandfather Phillips laid out the town 4 Sept 1846.  The town had been called Phillipsburg, Philipston post office, and now with two L's.  I have known many of the people in these school lists, and some are my own family.  I have many Phillips, Mock, and Templeton records."
