Clarion County's townships are the next-level governmental subdivision below the county level. &nbps;Townships are responsible for schools, road maintenance, and many other governmental functions.  Some boroughs have independent governments; therefore, even though they geographically appear within the boundaries of various townships, boroughs maintain their own governmental structures.
